Can you put wooden skewers in an air fryer?

Wooden skewers are great for making vegetable and meat kebabs, but can they go in an air fryer?

Yes, they can. Soaking them before use will reduce the chances of them burning. You may also want to consider reducing the size of the skewers to make them easier to handle in smaller air fryers.

Can you put wooden skewers in an air fryer?

Yes, you can use wooden skewers in an air fryer. Wooden skewers will not burst into flames when exposed to the temperatures in your air fryer. Your wooden skewers will ignite at 572 F (300 c), well above the 400 F (200 c) that most air fryers generate.

If the skewers are exposed to high temperatures for a long period, they will start to char and eventually ignite. Though this is unlikely in an air fryer, due to the speed at which air fryers cook your food. Soaking the skewers in water before use will reduce the risk of this happening.

Why use wooden skewers in an air fryer?

Typically, wooden skewers are used to make kebabs. They are also known as shish kabob sticks or kebab skewers. These long thin wooden sticks are used to hold the meat and vegetables together.

You can also use your wooden skewers to make fruit kebabs, hold large joints of meat together, or build an impressive burger stack.

Wooden skewers can be bought in most grocery stores and are inexpensive compared to metal skewers (can also be used in air fryers). Wooden skewers are reusable, simply wash and dry them after use.  If looked after they will last a long time and can be used over and over.
